Day 26 – 38: March 9 – 21st, Key West Ventures

Key west ventures have been many, and you learn quickly here that life just “is”. This is a place that roosters walk around restaurants, beer is flowing at 8 am, English is the 2nd language, and the police really don’t have much to worry about because there is only one way in and out by land.  The water and boats are the bigger headache. What really makes it “the special place”, is, of course, the water and weather. Perfect days and water that is so salty it holds you up. Water that is so clear you can see all the fish and critters moving around. Sunsets that are close to the fireball sunsets one finds in a desert (not quite there though IMO). Spots like Louise’s Backyard, Schooners, Sloppy Joes, Conch Republic, Little Whitehouse, Mel Fischer Museum, Hemingway (of course), Hanks Hair of the Dog Saloon and the special places on stock island like Hogfish Bar & Grill, The docks, El Siboney (Cuban goodness), Hurricane Hole, Key West Yacht club, the Perry Hotel & Marina and our most frequented, the Legion. One quickly understands how people pull in here and days blend together and before you know it you have been here for 6 months.
