Today we pulled up anchorage and went outside! Perfect day for outside.
We needed a break of ICW traffic. On the way out we hit lots of commercial boats and other big fun boats. We got very badly waked as we exited the inlet by a big yacht. We radioed to slow down at such a close pass and got no response. As we got tossed around, another boat radioed us as they got tossed as well – questioning them. We radioed back that we radioed and got no response. The other boat responded “All that money and no sense”. That quote from an old timer will stick with me forever.
So calm and a beautiful outside. The highlights of the day:
- Dolphins, dolphins, dolphins. I have never seen so many
- 2 Loggerhead turtles
- Jumping swordfish
- Whale tail
- Pelicans
- More dolphins
We used the upper helm. We felt like no other people existed. I learned how to deploy the “birds”.
Anchored at Jekly Island and the island and sunset are to be with me to the grave.
Final note: After stressful, physical, solve problems days, a shower and beer never feels better. Interesting, since the beginning of time, alcohol lasts forever on a boat. We are not drinking pirates, however, we do love a sip after a long day. Cheers.
