The ride from Hilton Head to Beaufort was wonderful and beautiful. Such a deep waterway and river. Beautiful sailboats an scenes.
The new item we decided to try on this trip, since it was short, was towing the dingy. It went very well but it is not a favorite thing. Docking requires a retie on the side after you find out your dock. One must debate hoisting her back up versus maneuvering with it tied. For a short simple ride, it makes sense.
The town is one of my favorites. Maybe because you jump off the boat and the old town and main Street “Bay Street” is right there. FUN shops and old houses are just a few of my favorite things.
I had one of the best pork chops in my life at Old Bull Tavern. What a great place packed with locals getting the award winning food.
Toured the Verdier house and learned a few new things about old building techniques. There are still surprises in life. This town has been a surprise.
We met some members of the sailing/yacht club at the Old Bull Tavern. So, we went to check the club out today by dingy. Great family club. Thus the decision was made we are going to dock there on Friday and join them for Sunset Friday.
Also, took the dingy to Front Royal marina to check it out. Nice, however, we prefer our current Beaufort location!
No day is without “Murphy”. The ride back had us run right into a sand bar. I was about to shout the water is getting low and we stopped dead. Sean had to jump in and pull us back to deeper water. Just another boat day. Diner sure was good after that.
