Coves, Canals, Carefully and Capitalize on Little River Mistakes

This has been one of my favorite rides on the beautiful river with so many coves at the beginning of our trip. The ride was from Georgetown to the Myrtle Beach Yacht club. My favorite part of boating is waking up at the anchorage, getting some coffee, and looking out from the stern at the flat sheet of water. The feeling that there is no one on earth but you and this moment, is so beautiful. This is when I breathe and I am thankful to be alive.

Taking off at this early in the morning and going up the river towards Myrtle Beach, is close to movie magical. The trees, with birds nesting, and other parts of nature, makes me feel like an explorer. Sadly, this all goes away as you get closer to Myrtle Beach with all the massive building of houses and condos along the route.

After landing safely at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club (MBYC), with very careful docking and instruction (wink, wink), settling took some time. Clark’s Restaunt was a welcome refuge.

Plans for a Key West Revival ended in disappointment when the place was closed for renovation. A $20 Uber and disappointment stood before us. However, a river mistake can be reset to a beautiful day watching tour boats and floating casinos dock. Sometimes a mistake becomes a charm. Glad we opted for the riverside view and skipped the biker bar.

Rain and a slow pace has taken the edge off all this travel and has given us time to reset and do laundry. We had a farewell dinner at Clark’s and weather permitting, will be back on the water heading to Southport.
