Finishing up with the Albemarle Rock and Roll

The day started great as we tried to get ahead of the heavy winds coming in for the weekend and the small craft advisory. All was fine until we hit the Albemarle Sound. Largest pounding and waves yet. Lot of clanking and things flying around. Luckily we started out with 3 ft to get in stride. Halfway, our trawler, a lone sailboat and a caterman were getting pounded with 6+ foot waves. So glad we were in the Papa San. Yes, it was a rollercoaster, but this boat could handle it. The real question was could the humans?!. I got to the point of listening to the rock and roll on a local station and noticed we had a beat to weather. We just rode out the pounding. One needs to go out with a bang…

We continued on to the Currituck Sound. Other than the thread the needle channel depth, it was a piece of cake. We found a cozy anchorage in a tiny creek with good depth. I always smile with my glass of wine watching the sun go down on a creek. This one is extra special and no one else in the world can be seen. A single bush pops out of the marsh. It’s as if to say, hey, look at me, I can grow here. Love the sun, the single bush and tree. The pounding waves seem to just disappear with the sun.
